Luna Llena Headlines Escondido Concert

 The Escondido Public Library Endowment Foundation (ELEF) and the Downtown Business Association will present an evening of food, fun and Cuban/Latin jazz on Saturday, August 8, 2009 to benefit library operations. The outdoor concert will take place from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the corner of Kalmia and Grand Avenues in downtown Escondido.

 The concert will feature the Luna Llena, a high energy, tight knit ensemble performing Cuban jazz with salsa style flair. The group is led by Romeo Carrido on timbales and features lead vocalist Joaquin Gonzalez on guitar; Ricky Carrido on congas; Elizabeth Meeker on trumpet; Jimmy Woodward playing the “tres”, a Cuban guitar; and Jeff Simon on bass.

 Cost is $15.00 cover charge per person, with the price including a choice of beverage. Additional drinks and food will be sold separately. Food will be catered by Cocina Del Charro with beverages from Stone Brewing Co. and a local winery.

 Tickets are now available at the Escondido Public Library Administration office: 239 S. Kalmia Street or at the gate on August 8th.

Escondido- Downtown Live

 Downtown Live makes its debut in the heart of Escondido this Saturday on the corner of Grand & Kalmia. The public is invited to enjoy free music on August 1st by local professional band, Ritmo Loco, with their instrumental jazz standards and a pinch of Latin flavor. Downtown Live will continue to entertain with a variety of bands ranging from Reggae, Jazz, Alternative to Blues every Saturday through October 31st from 6:00- 8:30 p.m.

 Attendees are invited to bring their chairs, blankets, and dancing shoes. This is a free event, where you can walk the streets of Escondido, peruse shops, and enjoy a glass of wine in one of the many restaurants.

 Downtown Live is a free weekly music event brought to you by the Downtown Business Association of Escondido, and this month’s sponsor, Vinz Wine Bar.
