Ramon Toledo, founder and CEO of pioneering Internet Company Busca Corp. delivered a keynote address, joining other notable speakers including Mexico’s President Felipe Calderón, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, Twitter founder Biz Stone and Carlos Slim – for the Tijuana Innovadora 2010 Conference.
Business innovators, government policy makers and Nobel Laureates were among the notables who gathered at the Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT) to hear Internet entrepreneur Ramon Toledo, CEO of Busca Corp., deliver a keynote address at the closing of the Tijuana Innovadora 2010 Conference.
Ramon Toledo founded Bus-ca Corp., a rapidly growing technology company that has strategically planted its Internet roots in the fertile soil of the Latin culture. Headquartered in La Jolla, California, they have expanded with offices in Tijuana, Mexico City, and Santiago, Chile. Honing in on search, sports, social networking, entertainment and gaming, Busca Corp. demonstrates that they know their Hispanic audience well.
Mr. Toledo’s remarks to the 1000 Innovadora attendees discussed the challenges and opportunities of an Internet start-up in Mexico. “Mexico is a ripe for internet business,” said the president of a leading Internet company that began in Tijuana.
He told the audience that he found in video games the niche he needed to become the number one video game portal in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. “We’re just in diapers compared to other countries in the world, which is why we need to take advantage of this great opportunity,” said Toledo.
