The rest of the banks quickly followed to reap the profits of all these new loans. They wrote trillions of dollars of sub-prime loans to people who could not afford to pay them back. Only a small fraction of these loans were to un-registered immigrants. How could they ever think that this would work. You also must blame the banking regulatory authority who allowed this to happen. There are millions of Hispanic and other un-registered immigrants in this country who are wonderful people and deserve to have the opportunity to gain legal status and eventually become citizens.
