KSWB FOX5 in San Diego is looking for:

NEWS PHOTOGRAPHER. Required skills: Photography/Non-linear editing/live truck operation. Candidate will be responsible for editing and visual coverage of news events in a fair, unbiased and accurate manner. Photographs news events, both live and on tape, for news programs. Edits material to match script prepared by reporter, producer or associate producer using in-house or field locations as needed. Works with reporter to get complete stories and makes suggestions on how a story should be produced. Keeps assigned equipment and/or vehicle in good working condition and files all required paperwork. Ability to set-up remotes to allow transmission of tape feeds or live-from-the-scene reports back to the station. Monitors scanners in vehicles for news stories.

REQUIREMENTS: College degree with an emphasis in Communications or Broadcasting required. Minimum of three years experience in Photography, Editing and Live Truck operations. Must have Non-linear editing experience on Sony Newsbase, Final Cut Pro. Requires one to have a valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record, as driving a news vehicle daily to and from stories is an essential part of the daily routine. Detail-oriented, able to follow directions, and ability to perform duties and make independent decisions under extreme pressure. NEWS EXECUTIVE PRODUCER. Oversees the station’s daily Prime News program and helps implement, on a daily basis, the strategies developed by the news director and assistant news director to improve the news product and increase viewer ship.

REQUIREMENTS: College degree or equivalent related experience preferred. Minimum of five years experience as television news Executive Producer and/or News Director. We are looking for a leader who can build an effective team and one who understands the value of URGENCY, CURRENCY & ACCURACY. The EP of our Prime News broadcast must recognize and showcase the BIG story. Must also know how to handle BREAKING NEWS and improvise in the control room. Requires the individual have a good understanding of technical capabilities to include; experience in live satellite, microwave remotes and helicopter coverage. Possess’ strong organizational skills and the ability to perform and adjust under pressure. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential. Individual will be willing to participate in projects sponsored by the station to enhance its image or help the community. NEWS FIELD REPORTER. Responsible for the accurate reporting of news stories. Submits ideas for news reports, covers news stories assigned by management, reports live-from-the-scene breaking news and will often be asked to report on non-breaking informational subject matter for sweeps or other KTLA programming. Must be able to describe events happening during live broadcasts, integrating factual information in a compelling story telling style. Works with the photographer in the video taping and editing of a story. Keeps the Executive Producer (or line producer and/or assignment desk) updated on stories. Reads Internet, wire copy, newspapers and magazines and watches station’s daily newscasts and logs tapes of own story. Represents the station in various projects designed to promote and enhance the station’s image in the community. Candidate will be available to appear at community events, speaking engagements, promotions, and other KTLA functions, and as such, represents KTLA to the public. Answers all mail and phones calls from viewers. Develops community contacts and a network of news sources. May serve as a fill-in anchor as needed. E-Mail resume to: rgoldner@tribune.com

REQUIREMENTS: Must have undergraduate degree or equivalent related experience. Prefer 3-5 years news reporting experience in broadcast or print in a medium to large market. Candidate will posses excellent journalistic background; effective broadcast communication, excellent writing and good organizational skills. Must be able to accept constructive direction and criticism designed to enhance individual’s performance. Able to appear live in a broadcast to deliver reports in a professional and effective manner. Stays informed on current affairs. Can perform duties and make decisions under extreme pressure. In line with reportorial duties, KTLA will require that individual to leave the building to cover news stories, be available to be assigned to all broadcasts and maybe required to work additional hours or days. Maintenance Engineer/Broadcast IT Responsibilities: Install and Maintain Technical and Physical Operations at the KSWB station. Installation and Maintenance of Television Broadcast Equipment. KSWB’s Newscasts are High-Definition (HD-SDI) EX3 Cameras, MacBookPro, Final Cut and Tapeless. Installation and Maintenance of Information Technology Equipment. Requirements: Familiarity of High Definition Equipment, EX3 Cameras, MacBook Pro. Strong PC Skills, High Proficiency in Windows and Apple Operating systems. Ability to work well with all FOX5 staff Ability to follow verbal instructions while involved in high pressure situations, being pro-active and relating information in a concise manner during critical situations.
