Explore the variety of careers available in the maritime industry and learn all about the new course starting this fall offered by a partnership with Coordinated Maritime Services, San Diego City School's School-to-Career, and ROP. Careers represented at the expo include Merchant marine, N.O.A.A., Inland Boatmans' Union, Military Sealift Command, US Navy, USCG, tug and two, yacht and charter, maritime schools, sportfishing, excursion fleets, & more.

Starting this fall, CMS will teach a course called "Maritime Services." This class is dedicated to creating jobs and career opportunities for "job ready' young people through training, education, internships, and apprenticeships. Maritime Services will introduce students to the maritime world. Boating safety, basic seamanship, boat handling, maritime history, sailing, navigation, naval architecture, construction, vessel maintenance and engineering will be featured. In addition to the mechanics of the maritime world, the course will feature the hospitality industry and the variety of careers available in marketing, public relations, and tourism.

CMS' goal is to help students explore a unique variety of secondary educational opportunities, and to help those students who are not academically strong obtain good jobs in San Diego and strengthen our waterfront economy.
