Goldman talk to contextualize current problems with the Centro

"Globalization and the Privatization of Culture in the Americas: The Present Status of Alternative Cultural Centers (Chicano/Latino) from New York to California" will be the topic of noted author and lecturer Dr. Shifra M. Goldman on Thursday, September 7, 7:30 p.m., at San Diego City College, Room L-112 (northside of Curran Plaza). Dr. Goldman's presentation will contextualize current problems at San Diego's Centro Cultural de la Raza. The lecture is free and open to the public.

San Diego City College is located at 1313 12th Avenue, near downtown San Diego.

The lecture is presented by the Save Our Centro Coalition and the San Diego City College Office of Student Affairs.

 

Museo de los Niños has openings for the new school year

The Museum School, located at San Diego's Children's Museum/Museo de los Niños has limited openings for the new school year.

The Museum schools has openings for ten children entering the third grade and six children entering the 4th and 5th grades for the school year beginning Sept. 9th. The Museum is a public school and is part of the San Diego City Schools. It is free of charge, and as a charter school, is free to create a curriculum.

Free Homebuyer Education

Buying a home can be complicated and intimidating process for first-time homebuyers, but San Diego Neighborhood Housing Services offers homebuyer education seminars which will guide you through the maze of home ownership. Public Forum Set on Sept 5 for Possible Arts Center, in Chula Vista

What should be the elements of a cultural arts center if a venue is developed in Chula Vista?

Arts groups and individuals interested in using a community cultural arts facility are invited to give input to the City of Chula Vista at a public forum on Sept. 5 beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers in the Public Services Building, 276 Fourth Ave.

 

Business Contracting Opportunities at UCSD

The University of California, at San Diego is hosting a "Business Contracting Opportunities" seminar Thursday, Sept. 14 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Institute of the Americas, 10111 North Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla.
