Women’s Water Polo Player Gets Top Conference Accolade

Ariy Scores 26 Goals During Week, Tops Century Mark For The Season

CHULA VISTA – Southwestern College women’s water polo player, Neshmil Ariy, was selected as Pacific Coast Conference Women’s Co-Athlete of the Week for the week that concluded Sunday, October 21.

Ariy, the state’s leading goal scorer, shares the award with Palomar’s water polo player Laura Waterman.

A sophomore, Ariy is a two-meter specialist and driver from Chula Visa High School. She has found the back of the net 109 times, is fourth in the state with 52 steals and also has 28 assists so far this season.

Last weekend she scored 28 goals in six games, drawing 24 ejections. Ariy also carries a 3.2 grade-point average.

On the men’s side. Place kickers Ryan Lux, Palomar College, and Todd Watkins, Grossmont College, share the accolade.

SWC’s linebacker Myles Bush received honorable mentioned for the third time this season.

Bush, a sophomore linebacker from El Capitan High School, had 14 tackles (seven solo), a caused fumble, a broken-up pass, three hurries and a sack in the Jaguars’ 23-16 win over College of the Desert.
