Charger Girls Captain Kathy Perez Supports Ocean View 5K Run/Walk For Education

Charger Girls Captain Kathy Perez is scheduled to attend the inaugural Pardee Homes Ocean View 5K Run/Walk for Education at 8:00 a.m. on November 9, 2002, at 8:00 a.m.  Proceeds from the race will benefit educational programs in the Sweetwater, San Ysidro and Chula Vista school districts.

Kathy Perez, captain of the Charger Girls, is entering her ninth season with the cheer squad for the San Diego Chargers.  On the field, Kathy loves cheering on the Charger football team; however, off the field she is busy cheering on youngsters as a bilingual first grade teacher. Kathy says she loves to teach as well as participate in outdoor sporting activities. She is also an advocate for educational programs. Kathy is delighted to show her support for South County’s school districts as a special presenter at the Ocean View 5K Run/Walk for Education.

“It is encouraging to have public figures like Kathy Perez take a proactive stand for education in San Diego,” said Carlene Matchniff, Director of Community Development for Pardee Homes. “Pardee is excited to kick off the first Ocean View 5K Run/Walk for Education with such a cadre of local support.”
