Halloween Activities Scheduled at Recreation Centers

Halloween will be celebrated at Chula Vista’s recreation centers with a variety of activities for youth. A Halloween Carnival is scheduled at Parkway Community Center; a Fall Fest and Monster Bash dance are set for Loma Verde Recreation Center; and Otay Recreation Center is having two parties for children.

“Fall Fest,” Oct. 22: Elementary school-aged children can enjoy an afternoon of fun and games at Loma Verde Center from 3 to 5 p.m. Included at this free event are games and prizes, crafts, raffles, popcorn, pictures and a costume contest. The center is located at 1420 Loma Lane just north of Orange Avenue. For more information, call (619) 691-5082.

“Monster Bash,” Oct. 22: Teens can listen or dance as a DJ spins popular Hip-Hop, Top 40 and Slow Jam tunes from 8 until 11 p.m. at Loma Verde Center, 1420 Loma Lane. Other activities include a dance contest, raffles and a $25 prize for the best costume. The cover charge is $3 per person, with a valid middle or high school identification. “Halloween Tot Party,” Oct. 29: Preschoolers from ages three to five are invited to enjoy games, crafts, a costume contest and trick-or-treating at Otay Recreation Center, 3554 Main St. This free event is set from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Space is limited and pre-registration is required by calling (619) 476-5325.

“Howl-o-ween Fun,” Oct. 29: Ghoulish games, prizes, trick-or-treat candy and a costume contest are all part of the fun at the Otay Recreation Center, 3554 Main Street. Scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m., this holiday party is free for kids ages six to 12. For more information, call (619) 476-5325.

“Halloween Carnival,” Oct. 30: A costume contest, trick-or-treating, games, a cake walk and refreshments are included at this special carnival from 5 to 8 p.m. at Parkway Community Center, 373 Park Way. All ages of children and their families are invited to attend. The cost of $3 per child includes a drink, popcorn and 10 game tickets. For more information about this activity, call (619) 691-5083.

These programs are among the variety of fun activities offered in a safe environment for youth by the Chula Vista Recreation Department.
