Encinitas, CA Community Resource Center presents the 4th annual "Flame of Life" in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A tradition for a decade, National Domestic Awareness Month is observed for the purpose of mourning those who have died as a result of the abuse, celebrating those who have survived, raising public consciousness about violence in home and educating individuals to help eliminate it.
This year's 4th annual Flame of Life Event promises to be the best ever. This free event will be held on Saturday October 13, 2001 from 1:00pm-8:00pm in downtown Encinitas on Second Street between E Street and F Street.
With a headliner like the San Diego Padre's own Tim Flan-nery and Friends at 1:00pm and the Queen of Roadhouse Rock Eve Selis at 6:00pm, it is no surprise that the entertainment will be superb. North County is also fortunate to welcome such distinguished speakers as Tanya Brown (Nicole Brown Charitable Foundation), Channel 10's Phoebe Chongchua, District Attorney Paul Pfingst, and Senator Bill Morrow. Bring the family for this event because your kids will no doubt enjoy the Bouncy House, Channel 10 KidsMobile, face painting, craft table, pop a shot, and a visit from McGruff the Crime Dog. Don't forget your appetite either, food booths consist of El Jalapeños (Mexican Food), Hamburgers and Hot Dogs, Big Jim's BBQ, Panda Express and bratwurst. The San Diego Blood Bank invites the public to donate blood when the Blood-mobile will visit from 1-6:00pm. If you're feeling lucky, raffle items will be available ranging from dinner packages to boogie boards. Last but not least, don't forget your mind and your heart. The event will have several interactive booths and the day will culminate with a candlelight vigil at 7:00pm. Please join us as a community working together to help honor survivors and victims of domestic violence. For more information call Loren Linscott 760-753-1156.
