Spring Valley - The Otay Water District is now accepting applications to fill a Board of Directors Division 5 vacancy. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, 18 years of age or older, reside and be registered to vote within the boundaries of Division 5, which includes the communities of Rancho San Diego, Jamul and Southern El Cajon.
To obtain an application, interested parties should visit the District's Web site at www.otaywater.gov or call Board Secretary Susan Cruz at (619) 670-2280. The Otay Water District offices must receive applications by Friday, November 30, 2001 at 5:00 p.m.
After receiving applications, the Board of Directors will screen applications, interview candidates and select a new director at an open session meeting. The new director will be sworn in at a subsequent Board meeting. The selected applicant will serve until January, 2003. Prior to that time, a general district election will be held on November 5, 2002 to elect a representative for the District's Division 5. The elected candidate would serve until the term of office for the Director of Division 5 expires in January, 2005.

The Otay Municipal Water District is a public agency distributing water to more than 118,000 people in 129 square miles of Southeastern San Diego County, including the communities of Southern El Cajon, La Mesa, Jamul, La Presa, Rancho San Diego, Hillsdale, Spring Valley, Eastern Chula Vista, Eastlake and Otay Mesa.
