Harry Potter Party

Come join us Friday, November 16th at 4 p.m. in the Community Rooms adjacent to the Oceanside Civic Center Library, located at 330 N. Coast. for the wonderful Harry Potter Party. This event is FREE. Magic 92.5's DJ Sherry Knight, will entertain and give out fabulous prizes to lucky winners, including t-shirts, movie posters, Harry Potter items, and passes to Regal Cinemas and a costume contest. Anyone dressed as a character from the book will receive a special treat.


Sicilian Puppets

Fantasy, chivalry and magic will fill the stage when the Carter Family Marionettes perform the award-winning, chivalrous tale The Yellow Dwarf at Mingei International Museum on Saturday, November 17 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.; and Sunday, November 18 at 2 p.m. Knights will battle smoke-breathing dragons to win the affection of a proud and brave princess in this opera dei pupi. Admission which includes Museum exhibitions, is $9.50 for adults and $5.50 for children. Call 800-449-4479 for reservations. Using rods to manipulate the cast of more than 16 hand-carved wooden marionettes, the Carters bring to life not only knights, dragons, and princesses, but mermaids, wicked fairies and fabulous beasts, all of whom they have created by hand.


Mayan Prophecy

It is the year 2012. The fulfillment of Xutan, an ancient Mayan prophecy approaches. There will be a great earthquake and rains will flood the earth, unless four individuals can alter the course of humaniy. Will they continue in their abusive ways or, guided by an other-worldly child, learn to live in harmony with the planet? Profecía, Teatro Milagro's sci-fi Mayan mystery, will visit San Diego for one performance on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 2 PM at the World Beat Center in Balboa Park. Poinsettia Sale

Students in MiraCosta's Horticulture Program are working now to prepare for the college's annual poinsettia sale, to begin Nov. 19 and continue through Dec. 19 at MiraCosta's Oceanside campus at One Barnard Drive. The sale will feature student-grown Paul Ecke varieties including Freedom Reds, Angelica Whites, Marble, and Jingle Bells. Prices will range from $6 for six-inch pot to $15 for an eight-inch pot. Poinsettia gift mugs will be available for $6 or two for $11. Lush hanging baskets will sell for $28. Centerpiece planters will be available for $20; with bow, $21.
