Chula Vista Sponsors New Program For Small Businesses

The City of Chula Vista, in partnership with the San Diego Contracting Opportunities Center (SDCOC), is providing weekly one-on-one consulting services at the South County Career Center for small, minority or women-owned businesses interested in competing for government procurement contracts.

Fran Sedlacek, a Chula Vista resident, is providing the technical assistance on a regularly scheduled basis at the South County Career Center, 1111 Bay Blvd., Ste. E. She has more than 30 years experience in the government procurement and contracting arena, and is an expert in assisting small businesses transition into the government sector.

"Our city's small businesses interested in competing for government contracts are encouraged to sign-up for this informative program," said Community Development Director Chris Salomone. "This is another example of Chula Vista's commitment to enhance its business community. The city offers a wide range of other services and assistance to all businesses."

SDCOC, which received a $10,000 community Development Block Grant from the City of Chula Vista, is operated as a project of Southwestern College. SDCOC has a proven track record in delivering services to small businesses in federal, state or local government markets. One-on-one procurement and contracting technical assistance, educational workshops, and electronic bid finding are among the services offered.

Businesses located in Chula Vista that want to explore government contracting should contact Luz Velasco at the SDCOC at (619) 285-7020 to schedule an appointment.
