Stone Soup Theatre Company presents Love’s Fire: Seven New Plays Inspired by Seven Shakespearean Sonnets” at La Jolla Stage Company (5661 La Jolla Blvd.) May 24 - June 16. Tom Sawyer Comes to South County

Broadway Musical Guys and Dolls

Guys and Dolls, starring Maurice Hines will go on sale at the Concourse Box Office, May 28 - June 2 to perform at the San Diego Civic Theatre, (3rd and B Street, downtown San Diego). This is a comedy in song and dance that brings to life Damon Runyon’s mythical group of saints and sinners who roam from floating crap games in Times Square to the chic cafes of Havana. Mar Vista’s Cinderella: Magic in the Making

This play is the classic story of Cinderella with a few twists, and unusual characters. Mar Vista Mariner Theatre presents this production May 29th - June 1st. For more information call (619) 423-7040.


Flower Lovers

Balboa Park is holding its Annual Plant Show and Sale on Saturday May 25 and Sunday May 26 at Casa del Prado, Room 101 in Balboa Park. Show will feature award winning bromeliads that are exotic and colorful yet easy to grow. There will be planting and mounting demonstrations as well as reasonably priced plants for sale.

Glorious Garlic Day at Balboa Park

Glorious Garlic Day (the ultimate flower) will acquaint you with every fascinating aspect of this aromatic little powerhouse. See garlic cooking demonstrations, get tips on cooking with garlic and pick up free garlicky recipes. May 25th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. See you on the Park’s Prado pedestrian walkway.

Fern Street Circus creates a colorful and fun setting, ideal for live broadcasts. We can provide jugglers, trampolinists, aerialists, clowns and acrobats. Coordinated Maritime Services

Celebrate San Diego’s Proud Maritime Heritage May 24-26. This tribute to maritime culture, its heroes, and waterfront industry has something for everyone. May 24th at 11 a.m. is the Annual Maritime Day Luncheon at the Holiday Inn on the Bay, 1355 N. Harbor Drive. $40 per person. Also, take the family down to the waterfront to view the exciting TugBoat Parade starting at 2:00 p.m. FREE; Take part at the Maritime Career Expo and Job Fair on Saturday, May 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and, join us for the Third Annual Maritime Heritage Dance with a Taste of the Waterfront as the grand finale for Sunday, May 26th from 5:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. aboard the beautiful Berkeley Ferryboat, 1492 N. Harbor Dr., taste the cuisine from San Diego’s finest restaurants, caterers and food providers and then dance the night away with the High Society Jazz Band.
