Soloella.com Launches With Award-Winning Journalists and Enhanced Interactivity

Premier bilingual Website Offers Original and Culturally Relevant Content to 200 Million Latinas Worldwide

New York — Soloella.com ("only her" in Spanish) announced the launch of its website devoted exclusively to Spanish and English-speaking Hispanic women worldwide.

Soloella.com, developed specifically for Latinas by Latinas, is a fully bilingual destination with a focus on original, highly interactive content and e-commerce services. Hispanic women can find information on career, personal finance, health, beauty, entertainment and parenting. Latina-focused chat groups, bulletin boards, featured experts and celebrity guests enhance the culturally relevant bilingual content.

While Hispanics represent the fastest growing segment of the U.S. population, Latinas remain an underserved community on the Web. "Soloella.com speaks directly to Hispanic women and seeks to inform, entertain and empower them," said Ada Díaz Ahmed, Soloella.com's president and founder.

Recently, debate has arisen regarding the "digital divide" and the access minority groups, including Hispanic women, have to the Internet. Soloella's management team believes that compelling, culturally specific content will help drive Hispanic women to the Internet and enhance their daily lives.

Currently there are eight million Hispanic women online worldwide. This humber is expected to grow to 20 million by 2003. "We hope to serve as the premier source of information, entertainment and e-commerce for Latinas worldwide," said Díaz Ahmed.

Prior to launch, Soloella.com formed the Community Partnership Program, an unprecedented alliance that used the Internet to connect leading Hispanic community and activist organizations with Latinas. In addition, Soloella.com will work with the organizations on "office" activities addressing technology issues across the world. Organizations that have partnered with Soloella.com include MANA, a National Latina Organization, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF), and the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund (PRLDEF) and the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Soloella.com users can learn about these groups as well as other participating organizations.
