Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation -San Diego orgu-llosamente presenta nuestro quinto festival anual, “La Fies-ta del Pueblo”, ¡la celebración de Cinco de Mayo más grande en todo el condado de San Diego! El festival será el Do-mingo 4 de Mayo, de 11 a.m. a las 7 p.m., en los terrenos de la Feria de Del Mar. Un espectacular elenco de can-tantes entre los que se cuentan: Banda Machos, Banda Maguey, Benny Ibarra, El Coyote y su Banda, Noelia, Nico Flores, Alexandre Pires y muchos más.
Se espera la asistencia de más de 25,000 radioescuchas de 102.9FM K-Love y La Nueva 106.5FM. La admisión es totalmente gratuita. 14th Annual Univision KBNT-TV San Diego Cinco de Mayo Celebration “Fiesta en la Playa”
Univision KBNT-TV San Diego and North County Community Services are hosting the 14th annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration, “Fiesta en la Playa,” presented by McDonald’s, on Sunday, May 4, 2003. The event will be open to the general public from 11:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Oceanside Pier.
“Fiesta en la Playa” is one of the biggest Cinco de Mayo celebrations in San Diego County, drawing more than 45,000 people. People can enjoy traditional food and family entertainment, as well as receive information and giveaways from various sponsors.
The entertainment will include bands such as: Ballet Folklorico Ixcuintla, Mariachi Tapatio, Faena Band, Real Norteño, Grupo Andariego and Banda Oro Verde.
Fiesta Poblana en el Centro Cultural de la Raza
The Centro Cultural de la Raza presents Fiesta Pobla-na, Centro’s Cinco de Mayo Celebration on Saturday May 3, 2003, at 12 p.m. Free featuring of Ballet Folklorico en Aztlan and Mariachi Chula Vista.
Come enjoy the BFA perform rarely seen dances from the state of Pueblo, Mexico where the Battle of Cinco de Mayo occurred.
Centro Raza Exhibitions

The 6th Annual Corona Cinco in the Gaslamp

Celebración Anual del Cinco de Mayo en el Queen Mary
El Queen Mary está organizando una de las más emocionantes celebraciones de Cinco de Mayo en el sur de California. La familia entera podrá disfrutar de las fes-tividades el domingo 3 de mayo de 2003. Este evento empieza a las 10 a.m. hasta la media-noche en todo el barco y presentará espectáculos en vivo, vendedores, comida, bebidas, discjockey, baile, juegos y entretenimiento.

“Concerts on the Green”
Opening night of Concert on the Green, the annual series of free outdoor concerts every Friday evening in Downtown El Cajon, is Friday May 2, 2003, featuring the big band sound of Big Time Operator, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Maytime Band Review Parade
The 56th Annual Maytime Band Review Parade takes place in National City on Saturday, May 3, 2003, starting at 10:30 a.m. Forty high school and junior high/middle schools bands from throughout the State of California are expected to participate.
Parade goes north on Highland Avenue starting at 28th Street, west on 16th St. to Kimball Park. Awards ceremony following parade in Kimball Park.

Guajome Adobe Program
Rancho Guajome Adobe is celebrating its 150th birthday this year. To join in the celebration, the Mission Branch of the Oceanside Public Library will present a program called “Get to Know Your County Parks: Rancho Guajome Adobe and Others” on Saturday, May 3, at 1:00 p.m. in the Branch’s Community Room. The program will focus on the history of the Rancho including the period the Spanish, Mexican and U.S. control of the area, and how the different governments affected local development.

Pacific Zheng Ensemble
The Oceanside Public Library and the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library are proud to present the Pacific Zheng Ensemble as part of the Spring 2003 Reading, Writing and Rhythm World Music Series. This concert will be held on May 3, at the historic Sunshine Brooks Theater located at 217 N. Coast Highway. Performance time will be 7:30 p.m.
Pacific Zheng Ensemble, also known as Chine Music World, offers their audience a truly unique cultural experience, crossing the borders of traditional Chinese folk music, steeped in ancient melodies and legends, into the genres of classical and jazz.

Memorias de Christina Morris
El Viernes 9 de Mayo, 2003 a las 7:00 p.m., se llevará a cabo la presentación y Lectura del libro Memorias de Christina Morris por Stella Sole. “La verdadera historia de Christina Morris, una inglesa acusada de espionaje y traición en los años cuarenta durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
La autora, Stella Sole nació en Barcelona en 1921. En los años sesenta editó su primera novela y desde entonces ha escrito más de cuarenta manuscritos, siete de ellos publicados.

verde, blanco, rojo A One Women Show by Raquel Salinas
verde, blanco, rojo is a humorous and thought provoking performances examining the key turning points in a women’s life journey. This three part solo performance has audiences laughing and reflecting upon themes of single-hood, Chicanisma and coming into political consciousness.
Raquel Salinas is a performance artist, actress and multi media artist who began creating her own work as result of the lack of roles for Latinas in theatre. Her work deals with issues such as identity, sexuality, domestic violence and women’s rights.
Performance will be held Saturday, May 3, 2003 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets $10 donation/$5 students and seniors.
