The end of all education should surely be service to others

César Chávez

On August 18, 2000, Governor Gray Davis signed Senate Bill 984 (Polanco) Chapter 213 into law, creating a new state holiday honoring Cesar E. Chavez. The legislation specifically instructed the California Department of Education (CDE) and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction to develop or revise, as needed, a model curriculum on Cesar's life and work.

The Cesar E. Chavez Foundation encourages all educators and community members to continue to develop additional curricular materials, activities, service projects and events specific to your school, organization and/or community. Below are resources to assist you in the process.
