Why Is Breakfast The Most Important Meal of the Day?

San Diego City Schools Food Services Invites Students To WIN up to $300 worth of books

San Diego City Schools Food Services invites students from all grade levels (K- 12) to participate in the annual food services essay, poem, rap contest and win up to $300 worth of books. San Diego City School students are welcome to write an essay, poem, or rap of their choice explaining, "Why breakfast is the most important meal of the day?" The contest will run from March 12 through April 12. All entries must be submitted to the student's school cafeteria by April 12 or submitted by mail, postmarked no later than April 12 to: San Diego City Schools Food Services Essay Contest, 6735 Gifford Way, San Diego, CA 92111. Entries must include student's full name, school name and grade level attached to the essay, poem, or rap.

Prizes will be awarded for each grade category: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12. Each grade level will have a first place, second place, and third place winner. First Place: $300 bookstore gift card and surprise gift. Second Place: $200 bookstore gift card and surprise gift. Third Place: $100 bookstore gift card and surprise gift.

A panel of judges consisting of educators, nutritionists and an award-winning poet will select essays, poems, and raps. This contest is developed with the collaboration of Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Services.
