Registration for the 2002-2003 school year for students new to the Chula Vista Elementary School District began Wednesday, March 13th.
Parents may register their children at their neighborhood school during the hours posted by each school. To confirm neighborhood school information, parents may call 425-9600, extension 1570. Children who are five years old on or before December 2, 2002 may be enrolled in next year's kindergarten program. The following is necessary for kindergarten school registration:
Verification of the child's birth date can be completed by presenting an original birth certificate.
Appropriate immunization verification.
Proof of residency, such as a current gas and electric bill showing parent name and address, is required for enrollment and again each year thereafter.
A physical examination is not required for children entering kindergarten.
Children entering the first grade who have not attended kindergarten in California must be six year old on or before December 2, 2002. Verification of birth date, immunization, and residency is required. In addition, all children entering first grade must have a physical examination. Physicals given within 18 months prior to the date the child enters first grade are acceptable.
Students attending schools on year-round school calendars will begin in July. These schools are:
Arroyo Vista, Casillas, Discovery, EastLake, Finney, Heritage, Juarez Lincoln, Lauderbach, Loma Verde, Marshall, McMillin, Olympic View, Rogers, Rohr, Vista Square.
School begins after Labor Day for children attending schools on a traditional calendar.
