This year's "Portraits of Success" spotlights Latinos who have succeeded in the media arts including television, radio, film and theatre.

"The Miller Brewing Company is proud of its long history of showcasing Latinos who have received distinction in a variety of disciplines. We are especially proud of this year's calendar honorees since the media arts play such an important role in Hispanic culture and image," said Tina Walls, Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Miller Brewing Company.

For the first time in the history of the "Portraits of Success" calendar series, the Miller Brewing Company partnered with the NCLR for the 2001 calendar to help bring attention to the organization's national Latino Image and Media Campaign.

Since 1992, the NCLR has worked diligently to increase the number of Latinos in professional media arts positions, conducted research on Latino portrayals in the media to help combat stereotyping and misinformation, and produced the Alma Awards, which honors Latino media contributions, in a primetime television special.

"We are very pleased that this year's Miller Brewing Company `Portraits of Success' honors so many of the `unsung heroes' of the Latino entertainment community. We are also deeply appreciative of Miller's interest in, and commitment to, ensuring more accurate, positive, and fair portrayals of Hispanics in the media," stated Raul Yzaguirre, NCLR President.

The 2001 Calendar features oil portraits, painted by renowned artist Ignacio Gomez, of 12 outstanding Latinos who have succeeded in the media arts and continue to contribute to their community. They include: Luis Avalos, Nestor Carbonell, Nancy Alicia De Los Santos, Gregory Nava, Rachel Ortiz, Tony Plana, Evelina Fernandez, Pepe Serna, Jimmy Smiths, Ray Suarez, David Valdez, and Jeff Valdez.
