Conservation Scholarship Available for High School Seniors

The Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego County (RCD) is offering three or four $500 scholarships to high school seniors wanting to pursue a career in the areas of resource conservation and/or agriculture.

Applicants must meet the following qualifications: (1) be a resident within the RCD of Greater San Diego County’s sphere of influence; (2) have successfully completed three years of study at an accredited high school; (3) be nearing completion of fourth year of high school, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better (on a 4.0 scale); (4) expect, or have received, a “notice of intent” to enroll in undergraduate college related to conservation or agriculture, (5) write a five hundred word essay describing your attitudes and career plans in resource conservation and agriculture.

The RCD is a nonprofit, nonregulatory agency organized under Division 9 of the State Public Resources Code whose mission is to help protect, conserve and restore natural resources through information, education and technical assistance programs. The RCD works with landowners, businesses, schools, other agencies and the general public to provide positive conservation stewardship throughout the county.

SDSU Cesar Chavez Commemoration Scholarship

San Diego State University Cesar E. Chavez Commemoration Committee is pleased to announce The Cesar E. Chavez, $1000, Commemoration Scholarship.  The scholarship is open to

 Current SDSU students (graduate or undergraduate) or those admitted to start in the fall semester

 Must be a financial aid recipient for 2003-2004

 In good academic standing at the time of application and the academic year the scholarship is given

 Farm worker, son or daughter of farmer worker, or spouse of farm worker OR

Domestic worker, son or daughter of domestic worker, or spouse of domestic worker

two, $1,000 awards will be made.  The deadline is March 14, 2003.
