The Merchant of Venice

Previews for "The Merchant of Venice" written by William Shakespeare begin March 1 at the San Diego Rep's 250-seat Lyceum Space Theatre located at 79 Horton Plaza, downtown San Diego. Artistic Director San Woodhouse and an acclaimed cast of actors will set out to tell the story of extraordinary "Outsiders" who are reaching for fulfillment, love and justice. Based on the Amelia Bedelia books by Peggy Parrish, Amelia Bedelia, who always does what she is told, can be seen at the Casa del Prado Theatre in Balboa Park from March 1 - 17th. Starring a young group of talented young actors from Chula Vista and Imperial Beach are Katrina Schechter, Alyssa Schechter & Jenna Stevenson. Show times are Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Admission prices are $5 - $8 for children under 15 and seniors, $7 - $10 for adults. Conscience and the Constitution

San Diego Public Library will host a screening of Conscience and the Constitution on Sunday, March 3, 2002 at 2:00 PM in the 3rd floor auditorium of the Central Library, located at 820 E Street. Preview screening is FREE to the public. In WWII, a handful of young Americans refused to be drafted from the American concentration camp at Heart Mountain, Wyoming. Organized under the banner of the Fair Play Committee, they were ready to fight for their country, but not before the government restored their rights as U.S. citizens and released their families from camp.

Easter Eggs Workshops

Ukrainian Pysanky (Easter Eggs) workshops held at the Ukrainian Catholic Church Parish Center, located at 4400 Palm Avenue, La Mesa. Saturday, March 2 from 9 a.m. to noon & 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday, March 9 from 1 a.m. to noon & 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cost $25.00 per student/workshop. Gennaro Trio will Perform

Consisting of Ronald Goldman on violin, Mary Lindblom on cello and Ilana Mysior on piano. The Gennaro Trio will perform a variety of international classical works from Dvorak, Juon, Brahms and other composers at the Escondido Public Library's First Thursday Concert on March 7th at 7 PM in the Library's Turrentine Room, located at 239 South Kalmia Street. Riverdance

The highly acclaimed celebration of Irish music, song, and dance returns to San Diego with an international and multi-cultural company. It's an explosion of sight and sound that simply takes your breath away. The phenomenon of Riverdance - The Show draws on Irish traditions and combines the richness of the music with the magic and sensuality of the dance. Performing through March 3 at the San Diego Civic Theatre, located at 3rd Avenue and B Street. Tickets are $26 - $77.
