The San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will inaugurate its newly elected Board of Directors for the 2002-2003 term at its upcoming 13th Anniversary Installation Dinner & Silent Auction, March 8, 2002.
The incoming board members who will be sworn in during this year's Installation Dinner are Susan Albin of Fleishman-Hillard Public Relations, Berenice Barahona of Union Bank of California, Elizabeth Bustos of HealthCare Management Strategies, Xavier Corona of PennySaver USA, Lidia Martinez of Southwest Airlines and Jesse Navarro of Pax International. There were a total of six seats available for the new board, and four of the nominees who ran were incumbents. Only members in good standing of the Hispanic Chamber were eligible to vote.
Continuing to serve on the board through 2002 are Hector Baca of the U.S. Postal Service, Paola Hernandez of the San Diego Workforce Partnership, Cynthia Ledesma of Cox Communications, Art Moreno of Executive Protection Services, Thomas Saiz of Calderon, Jaham & Osborn, Roberta Sistos of Burke, Williams & Sorensen, Salvador Ramirez of New York Life and Irma Rodriguez of Rodeno Designs.
"We are very excited about our new board or directors and are certain they will work hard to ensure the success of the Chamber," says President Manny Aguilar. "These individuals have worked closely with the Hispanic Chamber for years and we're pleased to see them on the board in this level of leadership."
The theme of this year's event is `Celebrating Business, Education and Culture.' Professor, Dr. David E. Hayes-Bautista, Director for Center of Latino Health and Culture at UCLA will act as keynote speaker and will present his case study, "Latinos in the Future of California: The Case of San Diego County." Adriana Alcaraz of KSWB News will host the event as emcee and San Diego-born writer, producer and actor, Rick Najera will take the stage to perform sketches from his hit comedy, Latin-ologues.
