Summer Slam Pool Jam in Escondido

Teens from ages 12-16 years old are invited to come spend three Saturday nights in the Escondido pools! Each Saturday night will offer a variety of ultra cool games and activities in and out of the pools, contests, prizes, snacks and music. Barbecue Bonanza, Ice Cream Scream and Summer Olympiad are just a few of the main activities planned for the teens.

Summer Slam Pool Jam will be held evenings on June 26th, at Washington Park Pool; July 24th at James A. Stone Pool and August 28th at Washington Park Pool from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. The fee is $2.00 per person/per activity. Pre-registration is required. The program will be in a supervised environment. 36th Annual Cabrillo Festival

A San Diego tradition continues this year when the 36th Annual Cabrillo Festival hosts its kick off fundraiser, "Sailing Into the Millennium," on Saturday, June 26 from 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Cabrillo National Monument, located at 1800 Cabrillo Memorial Drive.

This festive fathering features food and dancing from local Portuguese, Mexican and Spanish groups, as well as a historical presentations about Juan Rodriguez Ca-brillo, for whom the event honors. Museum of Man Features Summer Activities

Parens and children can make plans now to spend an intriguing summer excavating an archaeological "site," exploring the ancient practices of mummification or trying their hand at the age-old art of clay pottery.

Starting Monday, June 28 and continuing through Friday, August 13, the San Diego Museum of Man will offer more than 24 children's camps on weekdays and weekends, among them "Bone Detective," the "Wonders of Mummies," "Magical Musical Instruments," "Mysteries of Masks" and "Heritage in Clay." Famed Pianist Gustavo Romero Performs at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library

Renowned pianist Gustavo Romero returns to his native San Diego for a truly cele-bratory occasion: the 100th Anniversary of the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library of La Jolla. As the signature musical event of the library's celebration of this significant birthday, the young pianist will perform the entire solo piano repertoire of Chopin in a series of six concerts. San Diego Comic Opera Presents "The Mikado"

The mythical town of Titipu in the exotic East plays host to a delightful and outrageously funny production of the Gilbert & Sullivan masterpiece, The Mikado, opening June 18 at the Casa del Prado Theatre in Balboa Park and running through June 27, 1999.

This splendid satire on governmental incongruence, legislative incompetence and general pomposity, revolves about a set of concentric laws and their diminishing returns. The story concerts Ko-Ko, a Lord High Executioner and Pooh-Bah, the Lord High Everything Else, who are a-twitter because they haven't been executing anyone and they fear the wrath of the Mikado, the Emperor of Japan. July 3rd Fireworks at Barona Casino

Come celebrate the last Independence Day of the millennium with one of San Diego's best fireworks shows, held against the beautiful backdrop of the scenic hills of the Barona Indian Reservation. From I-8 take Highway 67 north. Exit east onto Willow Road, then turn left onto Wildcat Canyon Road for approximately 6 miles to the Barona Indian Reservation. "4th of July Comedy Explosion"

Entertainment & Men of Pleasure Productions is proud to bring you another hilariously funny comedy explosion with "Don "D.C." Curry"; Big Rome and Ms. Loni Love, some of the funniest joke tellers in the business from BET's Comic View, HBO's Def Comedy Jam and L.A.'s Improv for an evening of side splitting laughter. 4th of July Fireworks in Chula Vista

A spectacular fireworks display will be featured along Chula Vista Yacht Harbor and Bayside Park on the Fourth of July beginning at 9 p.m.

Launched from a large barge located just west of the harbor and park in south San Diego Bay, excellent viewing of the fireworks is available anywhere along the Chula Vista bayfront. A musical simulcast during the fireworks display will be provided by KYXY-FM (96.5). Free shuttle bus service for the fireworks will be provided by Chula Vista Transit from the trolley stations at E, H and Palomar streets, as well as the B.F.
