The San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SDCHCC) Board of Directors selected Susan I. Santana as their new Legal Counsel. Ms. Santana, is an Associate with the San Diego office of Baker & McKenzie, where she is a member of the International Corporate and Customs, Practice Group.
"This a very momentous time for the SDCHCC, and we are very impressed with Ms. Santana's qualifications and enthusiasm for the position of Legal Counsel," stated Marco Polo Cortés, president of the SDCHCC. Cortés goes on to state that " .the fact that Ms. Santana is also the first woman to hold this position adds to this important appointment."
Prior to joining, Baker & McKenzie, Ms. Santana was a law clerk for the Honorable Ricardo M. Urbina in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. She was also a trial attorney at U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development in Washington D.C.
Ms. Santana, is a native of Chula Vista, California, received her law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, where she was the Associate Editor of the Chicano/Latino Law Review, and obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley,.
"This is a historic time for the SDCHCC. Its membership has grown exponentially and it has solidified partnerships locally, nationally, as well as internationally," stated Ms. Santana. She goes on to say, "I am honored to serve such an impressive organization, the Latino community and my hometown."
The SDHCC is celebrating its 10Year Anniversary, and is the fastest growing Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in the United States. The Mission of the SDCHCC is to promote a favorable business climate, advance economic development, enhance the social and cultural environment of the business community, and encourage government responsiveness to the Hispanic Business community.
