Every year the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) gathers the Hispanic American community together to address important issues affecting their lives. Issues such as education, health, leadership, and career development are addressed. This annual conference, themed "La Onda Latina, Shaping a Greater America in the 21st Century", is the largest Latino convention of 2000, and will take place July 1-5, 2000 at the San Diego Convention Center. Activities at the conference include workshops, speakers, entertainment, and the Latino Expo.
NCLR partnered with iHispano.com for the 2000 Latino Expo Job Fair, which will be held Sunday and Monday, July 2nd and 3rd, at the Annual Conference. In this joint initiative, iHispano.com and NCLR aim to provide Hispanics greater opportunities in career development and job opportunities, while at the same time, giving Corporate America direct access to Hispanic professionals. And, in an unprecedented fashion, iHispano.com brings the Internet and technology to this year's Job Fair.
iHispano.com and NCLR are collaborating to create the most efficient and productive job fair possible. In advance of the conference, iHispano.com will provide a job fair preview online for job-seekers and for employers participating in the event. Job-seekers will be able to preview job opportunities from these corporations and post their resume even before the conference takes place. Corporations participating in the event will in turn have the chance to preview the resumes of those job-seekers attending the job fair. Candidates who are matched online prior to the Job Fair will be pre-qualified by iHispano.com prior to arranging job interviews on-site at the Job Fair.
At the Job Fair 2000 in San Diego, iHispano.com will provide computers for attendees to directly upload their profiles online and view jobs available from participating companies. Scanners will also be available to upload resumes directly into iHispano.com. Following this event, iHispano.com's partnership with NCLR continues; particularly in support of NCLR's initiatives and programs for the economic mobility of the Hispanic community.
The National Council of La Raza is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt organization established in 1968 to reduce poverty and discrimination, and improve life opportunities, for Hispanic Americans. NCLR works toward this goal through two primary, complimentary approaches: providing capacity-building assistance to support and strengthen Hispanic community-based organizations, and applied research, policy, analysis and advocacy.
iHispano.com is the premier online recruiting service with a singular focus on providing corporations direct reach of professional talent in the Hispanic community. As an online job search tool, iHispano.com gives Hispanic job-seekers the assurance that participating corporations are seeking them, while at the same time offering quality and confidentiality not found on most job search sites.
