North County Homebuyer's Fair

The Cities of North County and Faith Based Community Development Corporation are sponsoring the annual North County Homebuyer's Fair on Saturday, June 3, 2000, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Valuable information about buying and financing a home will be offered.

The Fair will be held at California State University at San Marcos, 333 Twin Oaks Valley Road (south side of Highway 78).

There will be food, live entertainment, and festivities, along with information about homebuying, listings, credit, and budgeting workshops. Childcare is available.

 

SWC Child Development Center Hosts Open House

The Southwestern College Child Development Center Preschool Program will host a Summer Enrollment Open House Saturday, June 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Child Development Center, 1470 East H St., Chula Vista.

The Southwestern College Child Development Center accommodates children ages three-five, with full and half-day programs, with special rates for SWC students and staff. Chula Vista Opens Eastern Office to Issue Minor Building Permits

Chula Vista home owners and builders who plan to install new water heater, add an air conditioner, or complete other minor plumbing and electrical jobs now can obtain the necessary building permit by visiting the Planning & Building Department's Eastern Branch Office.

Located at 900 Lane Ave., Suite 200, in the EastLake Business Park, this office will be open to the public beginning June 5. Minor permits for plumbing and electrical/mechanical jobs will be issued to walk-in customers from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Community Meeting on the South Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant

The U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission and the EPA will be holding a community meeting to discuss the South Bay International Wastewater Treatment Plant on Thursday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Southwest High School Cafeteria, 1685 Hollister Street, San Diego, CA 92154.

The federal government is working to upgrade the plant to provide secondary treatment of wastewater through a system of ponds adjacent to the existing plant. The federal government's contractor, CH2MHILL, has completed 10% of the design work for the upgrade. The purpose to the meeting will be to discuss some options to enhance the plant's aesthetic features, as well as update the public about operations and maintenance activities at the existing plant, including recent results of the ocean monitoring program and toxicity testing.
