Come Together, Southern California Beatle Fan club is hosting its seventh annual BeatleFair Sunday, July 21 at the Scottish Rite Center located at 1895 Camino Del Rio South. Fair hours are from 11 AM to 8 PM.
Special guest will be Louise Harrison, George Harrison’s older sister who will be telling her stories of growing up with a Beatle. Also on hand will be a Beatles marketplace and a huge memorabilia exhibit. Beatle videos and cartoons will be available for family viewing. The public is invited. Weeklong Summer Camp
San Diego County Parks and Creation is hosting a weeklong summer camp at historic Heritage Park in Old Town. The camp is offered Monday through Friday, July 22 through 26, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. daily.
Campers or time travelers will explore the Victorian era with fun crafts, tours, art projects and songs. Space on the ‘trip’ is limited. Registration is $75 and covers supplies, snacks and museum admissions. The park is located at 2450 Heritage Park Row, the corner of Juan and Harney Streets in Old Town San Diego. Local folk musician, Elaine Harper and Richard Wilkie, will perform classic American folk music at the Chula Vista Civic Center Library Auditorium on July 24. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. the concert will include traditional songs and ballads accompanied by guitar, five-string banjo, mountain dulcimer and a harmonica. Three Mo’ Tenors and An Evening with Harry Belafonte
Broadway/San Diego Concerts is proud to announce that individual tickets for both the highly acclaimed Three Mo’ Tenors, and An Evening with Harry Belafonte are now on sale.
Three Mo’ Tenors will be at the San Diego Civic Theatre for two night only, July 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. They hit high C’s, belt out Broadway, scat, croon ballads and stir the soul in gospel, they basically can do anything. Tickets range from $27 to $79.
An Evening with Harry Belafonte will be at the San Diego Civic Theatre for one night only, October 12 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Belafonte is known as a consummate artist in every field in which he has participated, and has been successful as a concert singer, a recording artist, a movie, Broadway and television star and producer. Some of his hits include “Go Down Emanuel Road,” “Angelina,” “Jump in the Line,” “Gloria,” to name a few. Ticket prices range from $35 to $150.
The Malcolm X Library Teen Advisoy Council will present Magic of Rhythm Dance/Step Competition on July 26th at 6:30 p.m. at the Malcolm X Library. All area dance and step teams are invited to enter and “show us what you got” Teams will be judged based on the following criteria: originality and creativity, stage presence, overall performance and audience response.
