Free Summer Concert Series

Concerts on the Green in Downtown El Cajon continue every Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 pm through September 27 on the Prescott Promenade on Main Street. Concerts are held in conjunction with the Marketplace in El Cajon, the weekly farmer’s market featuring fresh produce, crafts and ethnic food.

“Filipino Family Day at Knott’s Soak City”

Filipino Family Day is aimed at providing wholesome entertainment to both parent and children, inches its way to the Knotts Soak City located at 2052 Entertainment Circle in Chula Vista. July 13th you’ll experience exciting activities such as karaoke competition, live band entertainment, dance exhibitions, raffle drawings, booth exhibitions and riveting performances by top local entertainers and water, plenty of cool refreshing water.


Abaa Koma Performs at SDSU

Please join Akayaa and Abaa Koma July 13, in an exciting evening of drumming and dancing, delicious African food, and a spirited atmosphere and at the same time you’ll be helping out a worthy cause.

With a cost of $10 students and $15 general, all proceeds will go directly to the village of Gowrie in Northern Ghana, home of Abaa Koma dance instructor, Akayaa Atule. Gowrie is located near Bolgatanga, has been suffering from drought and monies raised will go toward the purchase of food for the village as well as the purchase of seed for the following year. Concert will be held at College Lutheran Church, 6650 Montezuma Road in San Diego. The benefit begins at 6:00 pm and includes dinner and entertainment.

“Disney’s Rockin’ the Bay”

Disney’s Rockin’ the Bay” summer series at Disney’s California Adventure park premieres in a big way, presenting the Beach Boys July 13-14; The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards, July 15-17; and David Clay-ton-Thomas with Blood, Sweat & Tears July 18-19.

Performances for each group are set for 3:30 and 5:45 p.m. on the Paradise Bay Stage overlooking the seaside-themed Paradise Bay. The 45-minute show are a daily entertainment feature and are included with park admission.

Court TV

Court TV and Cox Communications will bring the national tour of the courtroom net-work’s new Mobile Investigation Unit (MIU) to the West-field Shoppingtown Parkway. The traveling, two-truck caravan will transport four interactive kiosks, enabling children and adults alike to solve a mystery by experiencing hands-on investigative techniques and cutting-edge, real-life forensic technology. Activities include: fingerprinting, footprint casts, hair & fiber samples and virtual witnesses. In addition the kiosks will offer screen tests to see if you have what it takes to be an investigative Court TV reporter. Join us Thursday and Friday, July 18th and 19th., at The Westfield Shoppingtown Plaza @ 415 Parkway Plaza in El Cajon.

‘Footloose’

La Mesa Christian Community Theater will present Footloose at the Mt. Helix Amphitheater in La Mesa from July 18 through August 3. All performances begin at 8:00 p.m. and tickets are available at 588-0206 or 800-696-1929. The historic outdoor amphitheater has been the site of family musical theater entertainment each summer since 1980. Season closes with Annie Get Your Gun, August 15-31.
