Shea Homes Builds Foundation for Philanthropic Deeds in Baja, California

Recent statistics reveal that over the next 10 years, 40 percent of all first-time homebuyers in San Diego will be Hispanic, making the Hispanic market increasingly important to the homebuilding industry. With a continuing leadership presence in the community, Shea Homes San Diego is demonstrating an on-going commitment to developing community relations south of the border.

On July 26, Shea is hosting “An Evening for the Children” in Chula Vista.  The fundraising event will benefit the Fundacion Internacional de la Comunidad, A.C. - Children’s Fund and the Fundacion para Ninos Especiales. Proceeds will be used to support community groups that strengthen families, to develop the leadership of young people and to assist low-income families in Baja, California.

“Communities are not formed by addresses and rows of homes. Their foundation is built through strong family ties, with children at the core,” said Mark Brock, president of Shea Homes. “Shea Homes understands the importance of providing a safe and healthy environment for children to grow and develop, and we want to play an active role in providing the necessary environment for positive growth.”

“An Evening for the Children” will take place at Shea Homes San Diego’s Baile del Cerro estate, located in the exclusive Gates community in The Woods at Eastlake.  Baile del Cerro is one of the five homes featured in The Fourth Tour d’Elegance.

Tour d’Elegance brings together San Diego County’s most noted homebuilders, architects and interior designers to build and design super-luxurious estates. The modern day mansions will be open to the public for self-guided walking tours from July 11 through August 10. The tour gives the public an opportunity to see the newest, most innovative and advanced homebuilding features.

Baile del Cerro is a 5,967 square-foot, four bedroom, five bath, four-car garage mansion. The home follows a traditional Spanish theme with gourmet kitchen, walk-in pantry and wine storage. It features state-of-the-art electronics and solar-powered technology, which includes an outdoor solar garden and a heated pool.

Arches, pergolas, hand-painted tiles, early-California landscaping, and the simplistic beauty of the Spanish-inspired home will provide a festive backdrop for an evening of entertainment that will include the classical sounds of the Cecilia Amaro quartet, delectable dishes form Villa Saverios, wine tasting from the Baja Winemakers Association and the artwork of prominent Baja and Tijuana artists.

Tickets for the Tour d’Eleg-ance are as follows: adults are $12, children under 12 are $5, children under 2 are free and seniors are $10. For more information on Tour d’Elegance, please call the Building Industry Associatiom at 619-835-9003 or visit their web site at www.biasandiego.org.
