El Legado de Los Papas
** Desde el pasado 15 de mayo hasta el 6 de septiembre, el San Diego Museum of Art está hospedando más de 390 artefactos, documentos y obras de arte, prestados por el Vaticano, incluyendo ejem-plos por Giotto, Michelangelo y Bernini. La exposición intitulada San Pedro y el Vaticano: El Legado de los Papas, hace su última presentación en el San Diego Museum of Art después de una gira por los Estados Unidos. Los pisos, muros, puertas y sótano del Vaticano se han recreado a fin de trazar los dos mil años de la historia del papado, comenzando con San Pedro y culminando con el Papa Juan Pablo II. Recomendamos que calcule por lo menos una hora y media para disfrutar su visita. Los precios de entrada varían desde $18 para adultos hasta $9 para niños de 6-17, con descuentos especiales para personas de tercera edad, militares, estudiantes uni-versitarios y grupos de 15 personas o más. The History of Photography
** The Museum of Photographic Arts (MoPA) in San Diego is pleased to present an exhibition of images of exploration that span the history of photography. Wanderers, Travelers and Adventurers: Images of Exploration from the Permanent Collection of the Museum of Photographic Arts, will feature 85 images by 61 photographers, on view from April 9th through August 1st. Images in this exhibition will exemplify the many ways that photographs were, and still are being used to present inspired vision from all over the earth, and beyond. HAIRSPRAY In San Diego in Its Second Week, July 13-18
Directed by San Diego’s own Tony Award®-winner Jack O’Brien, HAIRSPRAY, winner of eight 2003 Tony Awards® including Best Musical, is where you can let your hair down and dance the night away! Beatlemania Returns to San Diego!!!
The Fair takes place at San Diego’s Scottish Rite Center, conveniently located in central Mission Valley, on Saturday July 17 and Sunday July 18 the Fair’s first two-day show.
This year’s BeatleFair celebrates the 40th anniversary of the arrival of Beatlemania in the United States, and, as such, is proud to bring fans some first-hand experience of that event. There will be plenty of live performances, for those who want to get their fill of some of the best Beatles bands in town. San Diego’s award-winning ROCKOLA will thrill Fairgoers with a complete performance of The Beatles’ 1965 album, Rubber Soul, recreated from beginning to end. Other tribute bands include THE NEW FAB 40, THE BAJA BUGS, THE TIME MACHINE, AND THE OFFBEATS, who will also back special guest Billy J. Kramer. British-born singer/songwriter DAVE HUMPH-RIES will also perform tracks from his newest release, 38 Days, which has two numbers featuring Tony Sheridan. And actor/musician TIM BIAN-CALANA will help recreate John Lennon & Yoko Ono’s infamous 1969 Amsterdam “Bed-In for Peace,” as well as discuss his new book, “The Village Idiom,” a tribute to Lennon.
BEATLEFAIR 2004 also features a gigantic Beatles Marketplace, filled with memorabilia dealers of every kind from all over the U.S., as well as England, offering everything from rare records and CDs, T-shirts, and other collectible items.
