Don Diego Scholarship Applications from Del Mar Fairgrounds Now Available

Applications for the annual Don Diego Scholarships are now available! The scholarships are made possible through the Don Diego Fund, a non-profit corporation established in 1986 at Del Mar Fairgrounds to honor outstanding high school seniors who participate in the activities and events at Del Mar Fairgrounds.

The Don Diego Fund will award $20,000 in scholarships to ten students in 2006. The top two awards include $5,000 scholarships for one 4-H and one FFA (Future Farmers of America) student. Four $2,500 awards will go to students in the San Diego County Fair Employee or Fair Exhibitor category.

In addition, the Fund makes annual grants to the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom and the San Diego Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation.

Scholarship winners are students who demonstrate talent for organization, leadership and innovation, and also make a valuable contribution to the community through their schools and extra-curricular activities. Successful candidates will also have participated in the annual San Diego County Fair or other events associated with Del Mar Fairgrounds. Applicants are eligible for only one award in the noted categories.

See the application for more details. Applications are available online and can be downloaded at the Del Mar Fairgrounds website.
