Science Scholarships Available for Minority Students from the American Chemical Society
Minority college and university students who plan to major in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or related fields are encouraged to apply for scholarships from the American Chemical Society, the world's largest scientific society.
Under the Society's Minority Scholars program, one-year-only scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need, for amounts up to $2,500. Since the pro-gram's inception in 1995, more than 600 students have received scholarships.
The program is designed to encouraged African-American, Hispanic and American Indian students to pursue college degrees and careers in the chemical sciences. In addition, the scholarship program aims to build awareness of the value and rewards associated with careers in science and to assist students in acquiring the skills and credentials needed for success in these areas.
