"Errors" at San Diego Junior Theatre
Returning at the Casa del Prado Theatre in Balboa Park from January 4th-20th. San Diego Junior Theatre has come up with a vivid concept for staging Shakespeare's wackiest, most farcical play. "Errors" is a smart, lively and very, very funny production. Join the antics of Antipholus and Dromio as they search for their long lost identical twin brothers, when they finally meet, all its well. San Diego Rose Society returns to Balboa Park on January 5 & 6 for the annual free rose pruning demonstration in the Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden. The demonstration begins at 9 a.m. and continue until noon each day.
300-400 novice rose pruners attend this annual event which goes on rain or shine. The demonstration is specially good for beginners. Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden is south of the footbridge that crosses Park Boulevard near the Natural History Museum.
"Call of the Sea"
Have some free time on your hands? The house seems a bit too quiet? Maybe the Docent Training Course at the San Diego Maritime Museum is just what you've been wanting to do. Training course begins Tuesday, January 8. This is a wonderful way to expand your knowledge of seafaring, sea crafts and maritime history.
The course runs on consecutive Tuesdays through April 19, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the barque Star of India. Graduating Docents will receive their diplomas during a special luncheon cruise aboard an Edwardian steam yacht, the elegant 1904 Medea. With this comprehensive training program participants will be prepared to use the museum's resources, to research and pre-sent interpretive talks, to assist with special tours and programs and perform other museum tasks. Come join us for a showing of "America's Sweetheart" at Norman Park Senior Center, located at 270 F Street in Chula Vista. Follow wildlife-viewer Christine Day's adventures in the new IMAX film, BEARS, as she observes bears in North America. Bears, opens January 11 at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, gives us all an opportunity to discover these mysterious and captivating animals.
Bears focuses on three bear species in North America: the black bear, the brown "grizzly" bear and the polar bear. Follow two bear cubs through their first summer of discovery. Watch polar bears wrestle and play together. Learn what is happening to threaten the bears' survival and discover what steps are being taken to protect them.
