High school days often are a mixed
bag of memories, sentiments, and emotions. Such a time was this
years' "Winter Ball" sponsored by the Associated Student
Body of Montgomery High School of the Sweetwater Union High School
District. The student body was invited to attend the 2001 Winter
Ball this past Saturday February 17, 2001 at the Westin Horton
Plaza Hotel in downtown San Diego.
For many of the 9th-12th graders, the evening's formal dance was a first and one that they would long remember. Ranging in age from 15-18 years old, the young ladies all looked elegant and beautiful in their long formal gowns. A simple wrist corsage, presented to them by their escorts, was visible on each of the young ladies. The young escorts, dressed in formal tuxedos, sporting a boutonniere on their lapel, were specially dignified and manly lived up to their billing as young and upcoming gentlemen of this generation.
Hors d'oeuvres, soft drinks, and
mineral water, if one wanted it, were on tap for the evening.
For the young dancers, music was provided that would forever be
in their memories of their `special' night on a cool, clear mid-winter
At the stroke of midnight, the evening was ended and the ladies and their dates, left dutifully escorted by their parents and chaperons.
