Native Tongues starts this Friday

Native Tongues poetry series hosted by Adrian Arancibia - Friday, February 22. Door opens @ 7pm reading starts @ 7:30pm $5 donation. Featuring poetry by: Sara Durán, Tanner Blackmon,
Vejea Jennings, Abel Salas. Native Tongues is one of San Diego's oldest reading series. It began in 1992 and is now returning from a three year hiatus. Native Tongues will feature, as always, some of San Diego's finest poets and performers. In the past the series has featured poetry by the likes of Pat Payne, Miguel-Angel Soria, Jahsun Edmonds, Rodrigo Toscano, Tomás Riley, Leroy Quintana and many others, as well as performances by groups such as the Wormhole Effect, Gilbert Castellanos, and Daniel Jackson. It promises to grow even more at Voz Alta, San Diego's premier Chicano Latino literary performance space.

Teatro Con Safos Presents...

Wednesday, February 27 Time to be determined. $5 donation, $3 for students w/ ID Youth theater and poetry by Teatro Con Safos every last Wednesday of the month.

RAZAFEST event featuring LALO ALCARAZ of http://Pocho.com. Thursday, March 7. Door opens @ 7pm reading starts @ 7:30pm. Donation to be determined.

Subversive Chicano cartoonist and all around funny guy Lalo Alcaraz will give a slideshow presentation and sign copies of his Cartoonista Calendar.

—Voz Alta Latina Book Club Kickoff—

ELLA: Enriqueciéndonos con la Literatura Latina y el Arte. Sunday, March 17 @ 3:30pm. A get together to kick off Voz Altaís Latina book club. ELLA will feature books by Latina authors with a discussion and luncheon to take place every six weeks. First book: Erased Faces by Graciela Limón. Limited to 25 women per meeting. Books will be made available for purchase by Casa del Libro with a 10% discount. Books and discussion may be in Spanish, English or bilingual. $10 donation + cost of book.
