The U.S. is being charged with violation of its international human rights obligations by the California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation's Border Project, the ACLU, and the organization of American States' Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, for driving illegal border crossers into mortal harms way. OPERATION GATEKEEPER is charged with breaching the American Declaration of the Rights and duties of Man. 360 migrants have died in border related deaths from 1994 when Operation GateKeeper began.
Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan said Victoria Castro, head of the Los Angeles Unified School District Board, "should go home and wash her mouth out with soap" for saying "she sympathized with Latino parents who want to oust a Valley school principal because he was not a Latino." Come on Mayor lighten up there are many quirky things you sympathize with but do nothing about… "del dicho al hecho hay un gran trecho"!
Rod Pacheco, Republican leader in the Assembly has a PLAN TO SOLVE CALI-FORNIA'S TRANSPORTATION crisis. He and his party are submitting legislation that will assure that tax money collected for transportation projects will actually be spent for that purpose. In the past, (during Republican administrations) only half of the $15 billion collected in taxes was used on the state highway system. Where were all these efforts when the Duke, Ron and Pete were the governors? What happened to the eight billion that wasn't used for the purpose it was collected for?
The Governor appointed Elias Cortez, of Chino Hills to the Directorship of the Department of Information and Technology. He will receive a salary of $105,886 per year! HERE, I THOUGHT THE STATE WAS HAVING MONEY PROBLEMS!
Amado Avendano, popularly elected to Governor of: "Chiapas in Rebellion," will be in San Diego to promote the Zapatista Plebiscite to be held on March 21,1999. He will be here to give an opportunity to Mexican citizens to vote by absentee ballot (abet unofficial). He will be at the Parroquia San Patricio, 3821 Adams Ave, Carlsbad, at 5p.m. Feb 21.
