Valentine’s Day will be celebrated at Chula Vista’s recreation centers with a variety of activities for youth. Two special Valentine’s dances are scheduled at Loma Verde Recreation Center; Otay Recreation Center will have a talent show, Heritage Community Center and Parkway Community Center will focus on Valentine-themed arts and crafts, and Loma Verde will host a Parents Night Out on Valentine’s Day.
Valentine’s Dance, Feb. 10: Fifth and sixth grade students are invited to attend this dance from 3 to 5 p.m. at Loma Verde Recreation Center, 1420 Loma Lane. Valentine’s Talent Show, Feb. 11: Children ages 3 and up can come perform a skit, song, dance or other hidden talent at this special show from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Otay Recreation Center. Valentine’s Day Celebration, Feb. 11: A variety of Valentine’s Day arts and crafts for children ages six to 12 will be offered from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Heritage Community Center, 1381 East Palomar. Valentine’s Teen Dance, Feb. 11: A live DJ will play Hip-Hop, Slow Jams and Top 40s favorites at this dance for middle and high school students from 8 to 11 p.m. at Loma Verde Recreation Center, 1420 Loma Lane. In addition, a dance contest, raffles, photos and other activities are planned. The cover charge will be $3 per person and attendees must have a school I.D. to enter. Parents Night Out, Feb. 14: Parents may drop off their children at Loma Verde Recreation Center for an evening of fun while they enjoy a romantic Valentine’s Day. Activities for kids ages 5 years and older are scheduled from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and include dinner, arts and crafts, a movie, and games. The cost is $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents. The center is located at 1420 Loma Lane in Chula Vista.
