Heineken USA has again teamed up with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) in a search for student journalists to serve as on-air reporters for the upcoming Billboard International Latin Music Awards in Miami. Entrants selected for the program will travel to Miami in May -- and work to report all aspects of news associated with the event.
From Miami, the entrants will file news reports for radio stations in their local markets, and receive special instruction from news professionals from the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
To apply for Heineken: On Assignment, entrants must submit a 10-minute or shorter demo cassette tape, in Spanish, of their best work in radio (can be news, features, interviews or documentaries), along with a cover letter describing their interest in pursuing a career in broadcast journalism. A brief description of the tape's content is also recommended. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college, university or technical trade school and they must be proficient in Spanish and English. Entrants must also be available to travel to Miami from May 6-10, and they must be 21 years of age or older.
The deadline for submitting applications is March 13, 2002. Applicants must include address, age and a phone number where they can be reached. Application materials must be addressed to The National Association of Hispanic Journalists; Heineken: On Assignment program; Attn: Nancy Tita; 1000 National Press Building; Washington, DC 20045-2100.
