San Diegan will also serve as Senator’s liaison to law enforcement and Latino community
U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) announced that she has selected Humberto Peraza, Jr. as her Southern California Deputy Director. Peraza has been on Boxer’s staff for nearly four years, serving as her district director for San Diego and Imperial counties.
As Deputy Director, Peraza will assist Southern California Director Alton Garrett while continuing to run the Senator’s San Diego office and oversee operations in San Diego, Imperial, and Orange counties. He will also serve as Boxer’s chief state liaison to the Latino community and to local law enforcement officials around the state.
Peraza has worked for Boxer since May 2001. Before joining the Senator’s staff, he worked as a field representative for Congressman Bob Filner in Chula Vista (1997-1999) and as special projects coordinator and liaison to the Hispanic Caucus for Congressman Xavier Becerra in Los Angeles and Washington, DC (1999-2001).
Born in Granada Hills, Peraza attended San Diego public schools and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from San Diego State University.
