Editorial:

The Time Has Come to Impeach President George Bush!

When President George W. Bush took the oath of office he swore to PRESERVE, PROTECT and DEFEND the Constitution of the United States.” The President broke that Oath when he authorized the spying on American citizens which violated the Constitution. By establishing ex post facto laws (An Expo Facto Law makes an act a crime, even though it was not a crime when it was done i.e. telephoning someone in or out of the country) and Bills of Attainder which is a punishment ordered by a legislature, rather than a court!

The Constitution protects American Citizens from the accusation of treason by defining this crime very specifically and narrowly. This definition cannot be modified by the Congress, President George Bush., nor, Vice President Richard B. Cheney! It can only be changed by a Constitutional Amendment (change to the Constitution requires ratification of the change(s) by the legislatures of three- fourths of the States within seven years from the date of submission, of the changes desired, to the states by the Congress).

The Constitution of the United States is the rock upon which all else springs from in the United States. The Constitution has been the guiding force that has led this country and its people to become the great country that it is. Most importantly, it has guaranteed us the freedoms that make America different from most other countries in the world. The Constitution is what we fight and die for, to protect and preserve. For the President to believe that he has a supreme right to forego his oath of office for whatever reason is unconscionable.

The Bush Administration has been whittling away, unconstitutionally, through the Patriot Act to deny, withhold or limit, our Constitutional, Civil Rights and Liberties. The Patriot Act , which is not a legal change to our Constitution, has illegally given the Federal Government great leeway to wiretap and search the homes, offices and business records of U.S. citizens with limited Judicial review. It has given the Federal Government the right to arrest and hold individuals indefinitely in difference to the Constitution. And if not directly, indirectly, it has led to National Guardsmen spying on peace protestors in California.

By ordering the National Security Agency to wiretap and eavesdrop on thousands of American citizens without a court order. Bush committed the same type of action that led to the impeachment of Richard Nixon when he was found using of U.S. intelligence agencies to spy on the Anti-Vietnam war movement and other political dissidents. Nixon’s actions led to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), passed in 1978. President Bush committed actions specifically forbidden by this Act. The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 required special intelligence courts to approve national security wiretaps.

No person, or President, is above the law. President Bush committed an impeachable offense! The time has come to IMPEACH President George Bush! America deserves a President who can better serve our country and its people. America deserves leadership that is founded on Reason, Intelligence, and who understands the role of America amongst the Nations of the world. America can not afford to have a Party in power that is led by individuals who are totally out of touch with the World and America!
