Saturday, the 17th of September, of the year 2005, was a very special day for Diana Alicia Gomez, resident of Bonita, California, and for Alejandro Bruce Comerford, former resident of Canada. On this memorable day Diana and Alejandro, surrounded by family and friends, were joined in Holy Matrimony, at Twelve Noon, by the Reverend Blair Tabor, at Christ Church Unity, San Diego, California. The Bride and Groom were dressed in matching Mexican indigenous dress. The wedding evoked memories of times past and brought warm feelings of hope for the future.

The Bride’s Mother, La Señora Martha Gomez Peña, beamed with joy to see her family, all together, wishing Diana well and welcoming the newest member, Alejandro Comerford, to the family. The just married couple was greeted by family and friends, who had traveled to San Diego from Mexico City, the family home. Additionally, a large contingent of friends traveled from Tijuana, Mexico, Mexico City, Canada and from as far away as Armenia, where the Bride had served as a Peace Corp Volunteer. They all came to bask in the reflected joy and happiness that radiated to all who attended the Wedding and Banquet that followed after the Marriage Ceremony.

Four hundred wedding guest, joined the wedding party at the Bonita Country Club, to toast and greet the newly married couple. Clearly, the wedding couple was overcome with love and happiness at the evident outpouring of love that was manifested by family and friends. Without a doubt, this was an international affair where the Lingua Franca, was the language of love! Mariachis strummed and sang the romantic music of love, common to all the Latin people of the world. While the two newlyweds danced their dance of romance, it was obvious that love was in the air and that Diana Gomez, now Comerford, was loved by all who had joined them in the celebration of their marriage.

It was evident that Canadians who traveled far to attend the wedding of their dear friend, Alejandro, thought highly of his choice of the woman that he married. The evidence was in….Not only was he an outstanding fisherman of the deep blue sea but, he now had made the finest catch of his career!

The new Mrs. Diana Comerford may have in fact also made an outstanding catch! Perhaps, the Peace Corp may have gained a new Ambassador of Good Will to work alongside her in Yeghegnadzor, Armenia and continue her life work of making the world a better place for all!
