The prestigious Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), which has provided financial aid to outstanding Hispanic American students pursuing college degrees for almost a quarter of a century, is accepting applications for its Community College Transfer program. The application period is from December 1, 2000 to February 15, 2001.
Applications for scholarships ranging from $1,500 to $2,500 are available on the HSF webside at www.hsf.net from December 11, 2000 to February 15, 2001. Forms also will be available at community college financial aid offices or by mailing a stamped, self-addressed, business envelope (nine by four inches) to: Community College Transfer Program, Hispanic Scholarship Fund, One Sansome St., Suite 1000, San Francisco, CA 94104.
HSF provides scholarships based on merit, with consideration of financial need, to Hispanic Americans of all races and ethnicities. Qualified applicants are of background that is at least half Hispanic (one parent fully Hispanic or both parents half Hispanic), are a United States citizen or legal permanent resident, and attend a community college on a full time basis in a participating area.
Students must also have definite plans to transfer to an accredited four-year institution on a full-time basis during the fall 2001-spring 2002 academic year. All students are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
