The Forgotten Carols

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Especially when folk-singer/storyteller Glenn Yarbrough comes to town. With his full white beard, roly-poly dimensions and the twinkle in his eye, the legendary 1960s pop-folk tenor bears a striking resemblance to old Saint Nick. Unlike Santa, Yarbrough spends most of the year in shorts, back on the shores of Lake Chapala at his Mexican hacienda. He only comes out of retirement for the holidays, in this case to perform Michael McLean's Christmas musical, The Forgotten Carols, at the East County Performing Arts Center on Saturday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $26.00; $16.00; $11.00. The Center is located at 210 East Main Street, in El Cajon. For more information, call 440-2277.

Guest performers Jonathon McMurtry and Mary Corrigan, will narrate the poem alongside traditional Welsh carols. In addition the La Jolla Symphony Chorus will perform two works by Ralph Vaughan Williams: Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis and Hodie.
