Visits from Santa, winter crafts and gifts, and a special day camp are among the holiday activities for youth planned at Chula Vista’s recreation centers during December. In addition, several centers are offering special daytime or evening activities for children, giving their parents time for their holiday shopping or gift-wrapping.

Parents Night Out, Dec. 11: Parents can have a night out while their children ages 5 and older enjoy sporting events, games, a movie and food. Scheduled from 59:30 p.m.; the fee is $8 per child and advance registration is recommended, as space is limited.
Bleach PaintingWinter Gifts, Dec. 14: Kids can make beautiful wall hangings with colored tissue paper for gifts for family and friends. This free event is scheduled from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. for children in grades 1 to 6.

Parents/Kids Night Out & Santa’s Workshop, Dec. 10 and 17: Kids from ages 6 to 12 can enjoy an evening of fun activities and games, craft/gift making, and snacks while their parents finish up their shopping. Scheduled from 6 to 9:30 p.m., the cost is $8 per child for the event and each craft ranges from free up to $2.

Parent’s Night Out, Dec. 10: Parents can get last minute holiday shopping done from 6 to 10 p.m. while children ages 5 and up enjoy an evening of crafts, a movie, games and dinner. Cost is $10 per child.
Santa is Coming to Loma Verde Center, Dec. 17: Children of all ages can give Santa their last minute gift list from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Parents are reminded to bring their cameras to this free event.

Holiday Brunch, Dec 17: Enjoy brunch cooked by the senior center staff along with holiday entertainment and door prizes beginning at 10:30 a.m. Pre-event tickets of $2 go on sale Nov. 22, any tickets left will be sold for $3 at the door.
A Lazy Day in December, Dec. 28: Join in activities, refreshments and meet some new friends at the senior center at 10 a.m.
A New Year, A New You, Dec. 29: Get new fashion, hair and makeup ideas for the new year. Enjoy great door prizes and refreshments at 10 a.m.
New Year Dance, Dec 30: Live band, dancing and refreshments at 1 p.m. with tickets $3 at the door. (Note that this is not a New Years Eve dance.)

Holiday Tot Time, Dec. 7, 9, 14, 16: Preschoolers from ages 2 to 5 can enjoy games, crafts, and stories from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Otay Recreation Center while their parents catch up on holiday shopping. Cost is $15 per day and pre-registration required.
Santa’s Shopping Spree, Dec. 10 and 17: Dinner, crafts, movies and games are provided for kids from 6 to 9:30 p.m. while parents use the time to finish shopping or wrap gifts. Designed for ages 6 to 12, the cost is $10 per child and pre-registration is required.
Breakfast with Santa, Dec. 18: Children up to 12 years old and their parents can make holiday crafts, visit with Santa Claus, and enjoy a pancake breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. This party costs $2 for kids and $4 for adults.

Candy Cane Guess, Dec. 1-17: Kids ages 5 to 14 can guess how many candy canes are in the jar to win them all. The winner of this free event will be announced on Dec. 17.
Santa’s Storytime Crafts, Dec. 3, 10, 17: Holiday stories or a video are featured along with a craft at this free event from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for children ages 5 to 12.
Holiday Day Camp, Dec. 20-24 and Dec. 27-31: An array of activities, projects and games are planned for these two five-day camps for children ages 5 to 14. The fee is $88 for residents per session and $110 for non-residents.

Jingle Bell Rock Holiday Show, Dec.16: This free event is scheduled at Woman’s Club, 357 G St., from 7-9 p.m.
Holiday Brunch, Dec. 18: This Saturday program is slated from 9 a.m. to noon at Parkway Community Center, 373 Park Way. The event is free, however participants must bring a dish to share.
Santa Shuffle Dance, Dec. 18: Quarterly dance is scheduled at Norman Park Center from 7- 9 p.m. Members are free, residents $5, and non-residents $6.
Window Shopping at Chula Vista Mall, Dec. 21: Meet at Uno’s Restaurant at the mall at 6:45 p.m. for this Club LV, Young Adult Club Outing which is set until 9 p.m. Bring spending money for gifts.
