Southwestern College Presents La Posada Mágica
Holiday Production on Stage Dec. 10-12
Chula Vista The Southwestern College (SWC) School of Arts and Communication is proud to present La Posada Mágica, its holiday production. The musical will open Dec. 10 and run through Dec. 12.
La Posada Mágica follows a young girl who has begun to doubt the real meaning of Christmas. She is reluctantly drawn into a posada in her community, re-enacting the familiar story of Joseph and Mary’s search for lodging (posada) through Bethlehem.
Performed in English with a Latin beat, this enchanting musical is appropriate for the entire family and is a holiday tradition throughout Mexico and many areas of the Southwest United States. The play, performed with music by Los Angeles musician Marcos Loya, was written by Octavio Solís, whose works Man of the Flesh, El Paso Blue, and many others, have been brought to the stage at theatres nationwide.
“Everyone in the family will love this lively musical,” said Director Sandra Cortez, also an SWC Theatre Instructor.
La Posada Mágica will be performed at Mayan Hall * December 10 and 11 at 7:00 p.m. and December 12 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for students, seniors, and children. Tickets can be purchased by calling the SWC box office at (619) 482-6367.
