Cultural Arts Office/Carlsbad Offers Grants for Projects

The cultural Arts Office/City of Carlsbad invites applications for its annual Community Arts Grants Program. Funding for the Grants Program amounts to $19,000 for the year 2003. the grants Program awards funds to not-for-profit organiztions and to visual, media, literary and performing artists for projects taking place in Carlsbad. Schools and school-related organizations may also apply for school-based proposals. Four Grant Application workshops will he held:

*Monday, September 16, and Monday, September 23, at 4:00 p.m. at the Carlsbad Library Meeting Room, 1775 Dove Lane;

*Tuesday, September 10, and Tuesday, September 17 at 5:00 p.m. at the Cole Library, 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive. the grant applications submission deadline is Monday, October 21, 2002.

The Community Arts Grant Program is designed to help strengthen local arts organizations and to provide cultural and artistic opportunities for Carlsbad citizens. Funds are only awarded for projects occurring in Carlsbad in the year 2003. arts organizations located elsewhere in San County must have a Carlsbad non-profit organization or school as a partner to host the proposed activity. a peer review panel will make recommendations regarding fundig to the Carlsbad Arts Commission for ratification. Announcement of grants awarded will occur by mid-december. Applications and guidelines are available at the Carlsbad Arts Office, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008.
