The Center for International Understanding at Mira Costa College and Voter March will sponsor famed prosecutor and author Vincent Bugliosi at the Mira Costa College Theater in Oceanside on August 25 at 7:30 p.m. Also speaking at the forum, which is free and open to the public, will be U.S. Rep. Bob Filner, of California's 50th District.
Bugliosi, while Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County, gained international prominence with his successful prosecution of Charles Manson and his bestseller, "Helter Skelter," based on the Manson case, and has remained a leading figure on the American legal and political fronts. His new book, "The Betrayal of America: How the Supreme Court Undermined the Constitution and Chose Our President," details Buglio-si's investigation of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Bush v.Gore that was the culmination of the most controversial presidential election in U.S. history.
Rep. Filner is one of 13 U.S. Representatives who protested the counting of electoral votes by walking out of the nationally televised proceedings. His district encompasses the southern half of the City of San Diego and includes the South Bay cities of Chula Vista and National City.
