Celebrate the Day of the Child Community Fair

Celebrate the Day of the Child Community Fair will be held on Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Memorial Bowl Park on 3rd Avenue and Parkway in Chula Vista. Children and their families will enjoy fun activities such as face painting, clowns, arts and crafts, exciting musical groups, dancers and singers. Plus there will be many resources to help keep children safe and healthy.

 

Long-Term Care Community Forum

On March 31 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Senator Dede Alpert will host a Long-Term Care Community Forum at the War Memorial Building, located at Park Boulevard and Zoo Drive, next to the San Diego Zoo.

At the forum the discussion will center around quality care, affordability and insurance related issues. The public is encouraged to attend this free community forum that will include a continental breakfast. For more information call (619) 645-3090.

 

Peninsula Family YMCA Seeks Help to Upgrade Soccer Arena After Vandalism

On April 15 the Peninsula Family YMCA Youth Soccer Arena located at 4390 Valeta Street in San Diego was victimized by vandals and the arena sustained an estimated $15,000 in damage and destruction. "Without the arena, our service to the community in these important youth programs will be delayed," stated Alfred Velasco, Executive Director of the Peninsula Y. Donations are being accepted towards upgrading the soccer arena in order to make it more difficult for future vandalism. If you are interested in contributing contact Velasco at (619) 226-8888.

 

Arredondo Family Fund Information

Neighborhood House Association has established a fund to help one of its Head Start families, the Arredondo's. The family's rented apartment was devastated by fire April 4th. Julia Arredondo and her three children ages 12, 11 and 4 barely escaped with the lives. The family lost all of their personal possessions in the fire. Their assistance from the Red Cross has run out. The family is staying with a friend. The Arredondo's have no money, clothes, furniture, or food. The family is in need of financial support, housing, beds furniture, clothes, food, bedding material and any type of goods or services than can help put this family back on their feet.

Rummage Sale

Torrey Pines High School will hold a huge Rummage Sale & Pancake Breakfast, Saturday April 29 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Torrey Pines High at Del Mar Heights Road and Torrey Ridge Drive. Proceeds benefit the students, funding athletics, arts, drama, etc., Sponsored by the nonprofit TPHS Foundation and the Rancho Santa Fe Firefighters Association.
