Easter Season Our Belief in God Is Tested

The season of Easter is the time when we pause in our daily lives and reflect upon the Biblical narration on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, son of Mary and Joseph.

In the eighth century, before the birth of Christ, the prophet Isaiah foretold the nature and virtues of the Messiah, the just King, who was to rule in the golden age of peace and unity”! He was to come from the stock of David. It would take fifty generations before Mary and Joseph would bring forth Jesse. The story of the birth of Jesse is told and retold in the Gospels of the Holy Bible.

Two thousand and four years since the coming of the savior we must wonder what happened to the Prophet Isaiah’s statement that peace and unity would prevail?

We firmly believe that the season of Easter should be a time when a new sense of Hope. Faith, and Renewal, should be sought after.

We are being tested with the escalating wars in the Middle Eastern countries. We are tested while we, as Christians, sit silently by while mass killings are going on amongst the descendents of Jesse Christ. We are being tested when, in the name of God, suicide bombers kill the innocent. We are tested when we, as descendents of Christian Faith enjoin in fierce battles with those who are also descendents of the line of David and Abraham.

Yet it is at these times, when circumstances are at their worst that perhaps we need to turn to our Faith for Hope and Deliverance. Perhaps we have turned the celebration of Easter into just another meaningless excursion to the Mall to shop for Easter Eggs and new clothes.

Let us reflect on the Gospel According to Matthew where he admonish us in, Verse 44 and 45 to - “Love your enemies, pray for your persecutors. This will prove that you are sons of the heavenly Father, for the sun rises on the bad and good, he rains on the just and the unjust”.

This Easter let us pry for sanity to return to our earth.
